The Tech Oversight Project Applauds Court Win for CA Kids Code

Federal appeals court strikes down Big Tech’s attempt to block landmark California kids online safety law

The Tech Oversight Project today applauded the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that preserves most of the California Age-Appropriate Code and clears the path for it to finally go into effect after years of being held up in court by Big Tech-backed litigation:

“Poor NetChoice. Years of litigation, millions in legal fees, and they still lost. This ruling sends a clear message: Big Tech does not get to decide whether or not our kids are protected online. California led the way by passing the first Kids Code, and today the courts finally backed them up with a strong signal that Big Tech’s legal stall tactics are running out of road,” said Sacha Haworth, Executive Director of The Tech Oversight Project.
